Bay Area counties top California county health rankings

The County Rankings Program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has released a County Health Rankings report for 2010.

The report reflects the overall health of counties nationwide, and of California's 56 counties, the healthiest is in the Bay Area - Marin County.

The report's authors factored in a number of things to come to their conclusions- morbidity and mortality rates, access to clinical care, health-related behaviors like diet, exercise, tobacco and alcohol use, as well as socio-economic factors such as level of education, income, and community safety. Also factored was environmental quality.

Other local counties made the top 10 on the list of the healthiest:

Santa Clara County is in at number 4.

San Mateo County ranked number 5.

Sonoma County came in at number 9.

Some notable Bay Area counties didn't do as well- San Francisco is the 24th healthiest, and Alameda right above it at number 23.
