Buried Treasure: Harvey + Sharon = open studio this weekend

Welcome to Buried Treasure! This is the Crosscurrents staff blog, showcasing our daily favorites: headlines, radio stories, internet errata, and anything else we come across and think is cool.

The Harvey Milk Photo Center reopened a couple of years ago, after a major remodel. It's within walking distance from my home, but I've never stopped in. Well, everyone has the chance to see what's going on in there this weekend when the photo center joins the Sharon Art Studio for an open studio event. Instead of making you drive and park, see some art, then repeat, these two art groups will present the works of over 60 local artists in one location.

Paintings, watercolors, art glass, mosaics, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and metal works will be shown, in addition to traditional and digital photography.

The photo center claims to be the oldest and largest community darkroom in the US, while the Sharon Art Center says it is San Francisco's largest community art center. A portion of any sales benefit both facilities.

Drop by this Saturday or Sunday at the Harvey Milk Photo Center, 50 Scott Street (at Duboce), San Francisco, between 10am – 5pm.
